John Wayne, who was famously christened Marion (who can blame him for changing his name?), was a movie actor who worked throughout the 1930s, 40s, 50s and 60s. He was most famous for his rugged manly roles, including his iconic roles as gunslinging cowboys in movies like Rio Bravo (1959) and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962).
He died from stomach cancer in 1979 aged 72.
John Wayne was 6′ 4″ (1.93m) tall.
